I’ve been studying plants indigenous to tropical and subtropical regions of the North and South Americas for paintings now for about two years in hopes of gaining more ideas for floral patterns in my artworks. I stumbled upon using them as the main subject matter in my first tropical plant series for the Legacy Matchmaking Collection. This is a follow up to that. Philodendron cover my family’s yard in New Smyrna Beach. They climb along the moss covered branches of 100 year oak trees that line Old Faulkner St. This piece is inspired by a specific Split Leaf the bumper of my truck almost touches everytime I return home to visit.
