Art Republic’s enLIGHTen Festival is finally upon us and is running this week, from April 22-25.
This long awaited event (seriously Philip has been helping plan this as Creative Director since last September) will bring local, regional and international artists to the City of Atlantic Beach and Mayport for a beautification and revitalization effort through this wellness-centric art festival.
It's no doubt that art holds its own for years to come and is what gets major cities recognition from critics and tourists alike, from all over the world. The blending of different styles and mediums for this specific project is what makes it unique to the City of Atlantic Beach and Mayport. Nothing like this has ever been introduced to this area and the team has worked day and night for months to pull off this event.
From Art Republics CEO Jessica Santiago:
“Art is the best medium for creating great change to any area or culture. Artists take us to places we can’t go ourselves, they are cultural luminaries and their artwork offers us a way of communicating to each other on a higher frequency that opens the doors to innovation in all industries.”
Along with digital installations, speaker series, and art tours, a major component of enLIGHTen Art Festival includes the Mayport mural project, in which artists will design and execute 15 murals along Mayport Road.
Philip has already completed his two murals for this project which can be seen at Royal Palm Wine & Tapas and the Atlantic Beach Arts Market. He and his team knocked them out in just four days, and even got good friend and owner of Royal Palm, Kori, into her painting gear for some extra help.
Today really kicks off the event and if you reserved a room or are staying near One Ocean then you’re already part of the party! The event schedule can be found on Art Republics social media:
