Philip Bennett Walker just can't say no to work. In one week, he competed a mural plus five NEW originals, all while curating an art show he was a part of for that weekend.
When art runs in your veins, I guess you just gotta go with it and trust the process.
And not to brag...but the process and result turned out stunning.
When fellow artist and friend, Jason Tetlak asked Philip if he wanted to be involved in a new mural project in Murray Hill neighborhood of Jacksonville alongside other great local artists, he know this was the chance to jump in feet first.
Having your work represented in multiple neighborhoods and businesses in the largest city in the country (yes, just google it) is a HUGE deal to any artist.
Philip was elated to get the chance to expand his portfolio to include another mural, as well as work at any new techniques to better enhance his process.
For this project, Philip included his wife, Elizabeth and myself for extra support and together we knocked the project out in two days. After years of working together on canvases big and small, we've learned how each other likes to work, and how to work with or around one another.
The mural is finally complete, and ready for visitors! It's located at Franks Industrial at 4560 Lenox Ave and is approximately 30' x 100'.
As for the image? None other than Lil' Shelby, a jaguar that Philip originally painted two years ago named after he and Elizabeth's sweet feline that passed away. And if you knew Shelby, you know that she made this exact same face.
