El Tovar is named after the iconic Lodge that sits atop the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon, unbeknownst to some, was discovered by western culture via the Spanish. Pedro De Tovar was part of these expeditions. He himself never actually saw the canyon but did go on to collaborate in the founding of Guadalajara. The building itself is one of the last remaining Harvey Houses still in operations. If you’ve seen it, you’ll never forget it. If you haven’t , I recommend discovering it for yourself.
