Going green is more than a trend - it's a way of life for so many people and an initiative to stand behind to better the environment for generations to come.
Part of Philip Bennett Walker's business code of ethics is to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
In a time where it's inconceivable that some people think global warming isn't a thing, and even major corporations are turning "green," us small businesses want to do our part to ensure a healthier Planet Earth.
While we may never fully get rid of single -use plastics or have a recycling bin in every home and office, making an effort to recycle will always be a priority for those who truly care about the environment.
Although environmentally friendly material tends to cost more, we completely understand that recycling is a more expensive process than making, say, thousands of new plastic products in a giant warehouse.
So Artist Philip Walker and his team have come up with a great way to meet you in the middle in terms of environmentally friendly packaging for his art - and keeping costs down.
While this has always been a behind the scenes process - we wanted to share our efforts in doing our part - and hopefully spark some imagination or action for others to also think out of the box (literally😉) to utilize and recycle everyday materials.
Each canvas print that Philip orders comes packed in cardboard and bubble wrap - both of which don't break down or go away easily, and take up a ton of room in the garbage can every week.
That is, if we threw these items away.
Instead, Philip repurposes the cardboard to fit each painting and print to size once its custom framed.
Since major office supply stores and even the post office only sell limited sizes of packaging at standard rates, we have to come up with our own to ship various sizes of art, and often more than one piece at a time.
With the custom cardboard boxes, you can ensure your print or original painting won't be sliding around and getting the edges scuffed or scraped in transit, as Philip also reuses the all too fun bubble wrap for safe packing. Trust me, its really hard to know there's bubble wrap just waiting to be popped but instead it has to be saved for these shipments. (That's what I call self-control)
The fact that Philip reuses these items, instead of purchasing new material or paying a shipping company to do the job each time an order goes out, means that we can offer FREE shipping for online purchases.
We are so happy to be able to offer this feature to help you purchase the piece of art you love that will be the perfect gift, or compliment to your home.
In a world where most people don't give thought to where their material items come from and how - Philip's goal is for your shopping experience to be as meaningful and deliberate as the piece of art you're purchasing.
While we don't know what happens after each piece of art is delivered, we hope that this small act of recycling catches on and makes each customer feel great about their purchase.
