For those out there that are new to purchasing fine art or just want a reference behind Philips original pieces and prints, this is the blog for you!
Artist Philip Bennett Walker has been painting professionally for the past 20 years - his art evolving in terms of style, size and price as he creates larger collections based on demand.
The price behind each piece is carefully considered to ensure its affordable yet competitive - and still cover hard good materials such as canvas, paint, tape and of course each custom frame.
As an artist his career will always be growing, as his journey through art is also a discovery of color and of texture. Philip creates series and collections of Original Works based on mood, demand, and personal inspiration.
When he decides on a theme or object to paint, Philip does his research to learn as much as he can about it. Part of his inspiration comes from something he's already interested in, such as music artists he's idolized, or sea creatures native to our Atlantic Ocean.
Philip intends for his paintings to harmonize beautifully with their surroundings. His designs are based on pop art with a technique specializing in underpainting and subtraction of layers to create the desired color combination.
His collection of originals feature still life, portraiture, landscape, and wildlife. Some pieces relate more to the abstract eye, some are a product of fantasy, while others are inspired by the wild and beautiful nature of Philip's home state of Florida. They each are their own adventure, every original painting is a piece of Philip's imagination.
His pricing for commissioned original pieces is based on $1.75 per square inch, and for further information, please visit the contact page, Finding Philip.
Giclee or large format printing allows you to enjoy the next best thing to having the original for a fraction of the price. Printed on canvas, each run consists of micro-editions of 12, signed and numbered by the artist.
By using high definition large scale droplet printers, each print is created with the same color vibrancy and durability that you see in the original. The latex-based inks resists cracking and fading so your print will last years to come.
With prints coming on a pre stretched canvas and custom frame ensures that you are purchasing a finished product rather than having to seek additional work.
As an independent artist, Philip understands the value of supporting small business and other artisans. With that said, we hand pick and work with local craftsmen to produce the custom frame that comes with each print. Every wood frame is hand made, and the color chosen by the artist to best accent the piece, coming in either black, white or dark brown wood.
In addition to the product itself, a lot of teamwork goes into the advertising behind it. Each piece is uploaded to various shoppable platforms along with the website. You can also find various sizing options coupled with photos of each piece in a staged room, photographed for visualizing dimension and color schemes.
The multiple images are coupled with video and detailed product descriptions for more interactive social media content. If you're lucky we've even shared footage of Philip working on the very piece you own - or a few progress bloopers featuring Shelby Cat.
The time and consideration that goes into each piece - from a custom original to its print version and online product page - is all part of several months of work for that one design.
