There's another collaboration station up in here! This time Philip worked with an old map of the City of Jacksonville from 1918 as his canvas. He obtained this map from friend and fellow entrepreneur Jay Wilson, who is the owner of M.E.R.A Maps. This company, based out of Atlantic Beach, preserves antique maps from around the world.
Wanting to keep it local to Northeast Florida and create a special piece for a Duval die hard, the two decided to put their minds (and businesses) together.
As two dudes who love blending history and artifacts into their careers - this epic alliance makes perfect sense.
Philip has always been into history, whether it pertains to his long line of Floridian ancestry or its from worlds and centuries away.
Jay, on the other hand, fell in love with his first map he purchased through another collector in Savannah, Georgia. Since then, it's turned into a full time job, as he gets a thrill looking through archives wherever he goes for unique and interesting maps.
The map in particular that Philip worked on features old streets and sections of the city along the St. John’s River. His idea to add the Jaguar comes from both our beloved hometown NFL team - The Jacksonville Jaguars, and his new collection of tropical images featuring the the big cat.
In his own way, Philip brought several worlds and styles together that represent his unique artistic technique, while keeping the integrity of M.E.R.A Maps authentic antique map.
There’s only one Original of course, but there are also Limited Edition Prints for sale by both artists, all signed and numbered. They come in four standard sizes with a custom white wood frame, and are sure to be a great compliment to your home or office space.
